We are very pleased to be working with the non-profit organization Fairventures Worldwide, which works to reforest and protect the rainforest on the Indonesian island of Borneo.
Half a football field every second – that is the speed at which our forests are being cut down around the world.
We are losing one of the world's most valuable ecosystems and at the same time huge carbon sinks at an incredible rate. Commercial agriculture and plantation management is responsible for about 70% of deforestation. It involves intensive agriculture mainly for palm oil, soy for animal feed, paper, cardboard, and mining. What remains are mostly barren fallow land that offers neither the people nor the local flora and fauna a basis for life.
Reforesting degraded forest areas not only counteracts climate change, it also offers new livelihood opportunities for local communities. Fairventures Worldwide is convinced that active environmental protection can only work if the local population also benefits from it.

Fairventures Worldwide approach
Large-scale reforestation projects in the tropics. To this end, we form partnerships with the local communities in order to develop and test adequate, local solutions. These solutions range from reforestation with fast-growing tree species to the production of sustainable wood and integrated agroforestry. This is how we create new income opportunities for the local people.
