MONDAINE PayChip® - the most flexible way of contactless payments, worldwide!
With our PayChip® you are perfectly equipped for all contactless payment processes, regardless of which watch you want to wear. If you buy a Mondaine watch designed for this purpose, you can either insert the credit card in mini format (SIM card size) into our leather strap and remove it again, or insert it into the silicone loop provided, which allows you to wear it on the strap of most watches, no matter the brand. The first credit card company in Switzerland we are working together on our PayChip® is Cembra. . All of their cards can be connected to our PayChip®
How it works:
- Make sure that your credit card is being supported by Fidesmo. Currently, all credit cards from Cembra are working with the Fidesmo app, more institutions to follow shortly.
- Select and buy one of the Mondaine PayChip® watch models in the online shop https://ch.mondaine.com/
- At the check-out, enter your existing credit card details that you would like to link your PayChip® to
- You will receive your watch, your PayChip® and a special wrist strap loop within days.
- The QR code provided will take you to the Fidesmo App, with which you can activate the PayChip® and then use it immediately.

FAQ: The most important questions and answers
What is a MONDAINE PayChip®?
A PayChip® is a clone of your existing credit card, simply in miniature size. The chip has the size of a SIM card and performs exactly the same functions as your normal credit card. The PayChip® can quickly and easily be removed from the strap with its special pocket for the chip and placed in the silicone loop provided. This gives you the flexibility to choose which watch you want to use the PayChip® with. The PayChip® is safe, invisible to other people.
Which credit cards work with the PayChip®?
All credit cards provided by Cembra can also be used with the PayChip®: Cembra Mastercard, Cumulus, TCS, Cosy, Fnac and Lipo.
Other credit card providers are to follow.
How do I activate my PayChip®?
The QR code supplied with the watch takes you to the Fidesmo app, with which you can activate the PayChip® and then use it immediately.
Do I need to use my PIN when paying?
Each country defines an amount above which the payment process must be approved with your PIN. The same limits apply to the PayChip® as to the normal credit card, and the PIN is also the same.
In Switzerland there is currently a limit of CHF 80,00 above which you have to enter your credit card PIN.
Are there any fees for PayChip®?
No, there are no fees. Your normal credit card fee also covers the PayChip®.
What should I do if I lose my watch or the PayChip®?
Please deactivate the PayChip® immediately on the Fidesmo app using “snooze the payment function”, or call your bank. If you find the watch or the PayChip® again, it can be reactivated, see the procedure under "pause and reactivate".
How can I pause and reactivate the payment function of my PayChip®?
You can use the Fidesmo Android app, iPhone app or Self Service Portal (Self Service Portal: https://apps.fidesmo.com/f374c57e) to snooze the PayChip®. You can reactivate the PayChip® in the same way.
How can I remove the link between my credit card and my PayChip® ?
You can use the Fidesmo Android app, iPhone app or the “Self Service Portal” to remove the link to the credit card.
Will my normal credit card also be blocked if I snooze or remove the PayChip® in the app?
No, your normal credit card will not be affected.
Will my PayChip® be blocked if I block my normal credit card?
Yes, in such a case the PayChip® will also be blocked for your security.
Do Fidesmo or Mondaine receive data about my purchases when I use PayChip®?
No. Fidesmo and Mondaine do not see when or where PayChip® is used, or what it is used for. We only recognize the e-mail with the information that a card has been connected to the PayChip®; this information is required in the event that you request assistance from our support.
Are PayChip and Fidesmo secure?
Yes – very secure. Your data will never be transmitted to Fidesmo in full, only as a reference and in encrypted form, which will be used to identify your card during the payment process. The same security mechanisms are used as with credit card payments themselves. Even if someone tried to copy your data from the PayChip®, this data would not work on another card. The card information is inextricably linked to the PayChip®.
Can I connect any of my credit cards to my PayChip®?
Only existing credit cards from providers that have an agreement with Fidesmo can be connected to the PayChip®. The providers associated with Fidesmo can be found on their website or on that of Mondaine.
Can I continue to use my normal credit card even if I have activated snooze mode for my PayChip®?
Yes, the normal credit card is not affected. The snooze mode only applies to the PayChip®.

Can I still use my PayChip® to pay even if my normal credit card has been blocked?
No. Blocking the credit card will automatically block the associated PayChip® as well.
How can I link another credit card to my PayChip®
Fidesmo with the Mondaine PayChip only supports one credit card at a time. If you link another credit card, the existing link will be automatically deleted.
To link another credit card, please do the following:
a) Android: on the Fidesmo app you will find the option “Remove card”. If you click this, you will be asked again for security reasons whether you really want to remove the current credit card. You can then save a credit card in the same option, provided that it is also supported by Fidesmo. The providers associated with Fidesmo can be found on their website or on that of Mondaine.
b) iPhone: Apple has generally prevented the NFC function required. However, we are suggesting that you make this change from a friend's Android device. Alternatively, you can order a new PayChip® against a contribution towards expenses by following this link https://ch.mondaine.com/pages/aktivieren (activate the product) and click here afterwards Mondaine Paychip to order a new PayChip®. When placing this chip order, please place it with the credit card with which you want to have the PayChip® connected. The PayChip® will be sent to you within a few days.
How do I exchange an item I purchased with my PayChip®?
PayChip® and the credit card have different numbers; therefore, some merchants need the original credit card number in order to process the exchange.
How can I check my latest transactions?
Just like with your normal credit card, you can also see your transactions with PayChip® by accessing your banking app, online banking or account statement.
Can I set up limits for the PayChip® payment function?
The same options apply as for your normal credit card; each controlled by your bank.
Can I pay in any country using my PayChip®?
Yes, as long as the payment terminal supports contactless transactions with Mastercard or Visa – depending on the card type that you have stored on your PayChip®.
When I try to set up the payment function, I get the error message “Your bank is not connected to Fidesmo Pay”. What does that mean?
Your bank or credit card company has not yet activated Fidesmo Pay for your card. Please check on the Fidesmo Pay homepage or the Mondaine shop which banks and cards support Fidesmo Pay.
I mistyped/forgot the registration e-mail during the activation process. What can I do?
Please contact support@fidesmo.com and have your Fidesmo ID ready, which can be found in the Fidesmo app under “Media / More Information”.
The payment terminal does not respond when I hold my PayChip® to it.
Make sure that the terminal supports contactless payment with your card type, which is indicated by the semicircles ((((, as well as Mastercard or Visa.
Please also check that you are holding the PayChip® very close to the terminal.
Why was my transaction refused?
Make sure your card account has sufficient funds. Check whether the payment function of the PayChip® is active (using the Fidesmo app). Snooze mode may also be activated. The PayChip® does not work on some payment terminals; but with others Make sure that the payment function of the PayChip® is set up and active (not in snooze mode). Sometimes it happens that certain terminals do not support certain payment methods or only support them to a limited extent. Paying with the PayChip® worked for a while, but not anymore. What does NFC stand for?
NFC stands for “Near Field Communication”, a technical standard based on RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology. An NFC chip is part of a contactless communication chain. Our PayChip® is equipped with NFC.
Is NFC Safe?
NFC is a globally used transport channel for data and is very secure.
The processes set up by Fidesmo use highly secure encryption technology between the Mondaine PayChip® and the Fidesmo platform.
The same technology is also used by most of the services available on Fidesmo, such as Mastercard, access control in public transport and many more.
